Pennine Pneumatic Services Ltd – a SafeContractor

We are proud to have been re-certified as a SafeContractor, PPS has now been approved every year since 2014.

To achieve this accreditation, a company must carry out extremely tough and rigorous tests on its processes and procedures.

But what does this accreditation actually mean, and how does it benefit PPS and our customers?

Peace of mind for our customers

Having a SafeContractor accreditation gives our customers peace of mind, that we care and are competent in health and safety. SafeContractor is a way for service suppliers to prove to new and existing customers that any contractors we send on site will be trained to follow stringent health and safety procedures.

    Excellence is standard

This third-party accreditation scheme is all about recognising excellence in workplace health and safety. At PPS, we have built a reputation on high standards when it comes to products and services, and it’s important for us as a company to know that we are always adhering to the best health and safety practices when working at our customers’ premises.

    Accountability for us

To be able to renew the accreditation each year, SafeContractor and its accreditors Exor will request documentation providing evidence that employees have received the required training and other appropriate certification. For example: COSHH assessments, accident statistics, risk assessments, log books for the issue of personal protective equipment (PPE) and method statements. This helps to ensure that we continue to carry out these assessments to an exceptional standard, and keeps us accountable on our promise to deliver this.

    Affirms our employees

SafeContractor also offers peace of mind for PPS and its employees. It’s also reassurance for our insurers when it comes to our company liability policy. We feel that it’s important to adhere to a uniform standard of excellence, and we work to maintain this across the company. It helps to make sure that our contractors are fully trained and equipped in health and safety, to protect them and anyone they may be working with.

The process is detailed and in depth – and has to be repeated annually. However, we feel that it’s important to adhere to a uniform standard of excellence across the company.

    A word from SafeContractor:

Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said:

“Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.

“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Pennine Pneumatic Services has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.

“SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
