Job Title: Sales Engineer

Background:

Following an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering he was head hunted for a job in compressed air in 2011. Since then, his reputation for being an approachable chatterbox with a knack of foreseeing customer needs has led to him working with a wide variety of customers. From food manufacturers, aerospace, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, waste and recycling management teams or engineering firms. Whether an end user or an OEM Nick’s resilience and drive spurs him on to exceed customer expectations.

Role:

“Norman Walker are one of the most well known and respected names in the Hull area. The knowledge in this local team is impressive, between 6 team members they have over 180 years’ experience in compressed air! I was really keen to take on this new role working with them.

“My focus is to use my experience and energy to develop the area. Really shout about the support we can offer customers and get people talking about Norman Walker – the company has been around since 1930 for a reason.

“Now with the support of the whole PPS team behind us we can do more. We have more hire options available to customers, more products including chillers and assembly tools, more engineers available 24/7. It’s everything Norman Walker are famous for and then some. My job is to deliver to this to customers in Hull and the East Yorkshire region”

Most rewarding part of the job:

“I love finding the right fit for the customer, saving them money. Doing an energy audit, walking their factory floor, using my experience to help them avoid breakdowns and keep their systems working efficiently. It’s building a good relationship and gaining their trust.

“I get a buzz learning about my customer, understanding their needs and getting it right for them”

When not at work you’ll find him:

“Gardening or renovating! I bought a Victorian house in 2018. It’s a big project and the type of place where a simple job always ends up being something bigger, but then I am a bit of a perfectionist!

“Luckily the house came with a big garden, I’m from farming stock so my passion for being outdoors and working the land definitely started young. I don’t live on the farm anymore, so the garden is my outlet.”
