PPS apprentice Amaya Beale finalist for Degree Apprentice of the Year Award

At Pennine Pneumatic Services Ltd (PPS) we work hard to support and train the next generation through apprenticeships, which is why we are thrilled to share that Amaya Beale is a finalist for the Degree Apprentice of the Year Award at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2024.

    The Awards

The West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the region, with 14 award categories designed to honour the hard work and vital role of apprentices. Organised by National World Events, the award ceremony takes place on Thursday 9th May at Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford. It is undoubtedly a must attend event for all those involved in apprenticeships across the region.

Amaya’s nomination in the Degree Apprentice category recognises the effort and passion she puts into her work, studies and personal projects.

    Digital Marketer Degree Apprenticeship

Amaya currently works as a Marketing Assistant within PPS focusing on content creation and managing digital media. She has progressed the online presence of PPS and added key capabilities to the team, including video creation and design work.

Alongside this, Amaya is enrolled in the 3rd year of the Digital Marketer Degree Apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University, a program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary for various roles in digital marketing and communications. The curriculum builds upon the Apprenticeship Standard, incorporating the latest academic theory. It is a fully accredited 4-year degree program, leading to a BSc (Hons) in Digital Marketing.

“Her conscientious attitude is not only helping her to excel in work but has also put her on course to achieve a high first-class honour’s degree.

“Being nominated as a finalist in the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards is testament to the hard work she has put in since she started at PPS and on the degree apprenticeship, well done Amaya” Kim Martlew, PPS Marketing Manager.

    Team player

Additional to her job role Amaya represents PPS at events promoting the apprenticeship route. She has done talks at secondary schools and represented PPS at an apprenticeship celebration day within the wider Diploma PLC group of companies. She is also one of the first to volunteer for PPS community events.

Outside of work Amaya helps others with her passion for all things digital marketing and content creation. She volunteers at the church she attends, has helped Shine Theatre Arts with graphics and design work and even created a video for Northern Ballet.

“Amaya is a breath of fresh air and a joy to have around the business, she has a positive, can-do attitude which is always delivered with a smile. She has taken on various projects working across our group locations and helping us give back to local charities.

“Apprenticeships have always been a crucial part of the business and industry as a whole and Amaya is a great example of why we will continue to invest in young people.

“We are very proud that Amaya has been nominated and all the team are rooting for her.” Matt O’Connor, PPS Managing Director.
