Atlas Copco has launched their newest range of their VSD compressors. With potential energy savings of 60% compared to fixed speed equivalents – the GA VSDS is the most energy efficient and sustainable compressor on the market.
The innovative features available on this new range mean the GA VSDS compressor can change and optimise its operation for any industrial setting.
Atlas Copco launched the very first variable speed drive compressor in 1994 – this was capable of achieving energy savings of 35% compared to fixed speed technology. This went a step further to 50% with the introduction of the VSD+.
Today, the third generation of Atlas Copco variable speed drive compressors, the new VSDS, can realise energy savings of 60%.
Sustainability is at the heart of this new product, the real driver behind the innovative design. Where to start? It boasts market leading energy savings, it includes the minimal number of components and is the first compressor to have an IE5 ferrite-assisted synchronous reluctance motor that does not rely on rare earth materials in its operation.
As you would expect from Atlas Copco, the new VSDS is packed with smart features. The first to mention is the Smart Temperature Control (STC) system. Essentially, STC works by monitoring the oil temperature at all times, then heats or cools the oil as needed to ensure it is always at the optimal temperature.
Another smart feature includes Boost Flow Mode, where the compressor can exceed maximum capacity temporarily and safely. Free Air Delivery is 21% higher than its fixed speed counter parts and the GA 22-37 VSDS can easily be installed on the production floor with its small footprint and noise levels as low as 63 dB.
A future proofed compressor with outstanding connectivity the GA VSDS compressor includes the advanced Elektronikon® Touch controller, the EQ2i multiple compressor control (integrated as standard), SMARTLINK remote monitoring and analysis, and OPC UA integration for connected production environments.
